Get more out of your day

Are you spending your time wisely?

One of the greatest challenges many small business owners face is a lack of time to do all that is needed in their business. So how should we utilise our time more effectively as small business owners? The starting point is to reorganise.

A resource I recommend reading is the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People by Stephen R Covey. Of relevance here is Habit 2, Begin with the end in mind. It says:

So, what do you want to be when you grow up? That question may appear a little trite, but think about it for a moment. Are you - right now - who you want to be, what you dreamed you'd be, doing what you always wanted to do? Be honest. Sometimes people find themselves achieving victories that are empty - successes that have come at the expense of things that were far more valuable to them. If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step you take gets you to the wrong place faster.

Habit 2 is based on imagination - the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes.
Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.

You snooze... you lose!

Don’t start your day without having a clear idea of what you expect to achieve. Without a direction and plan you will be constantly getting to the end of the day feeling like you achieved very little. Time is precious, don’t waste a second, know where you want to get to and then plan how to get there.

So start each day with a clear vision. You’ll ultimately prioritise tasks to achieve the daily vision and having achieved this you’ll be inspired to continue using this model.

Why not give it a go? Nothing to lose but lots to gain!

With you in every success,
